Wisdom teeth may cause pain, swelling, and mouth opening restriction.

1. Pain

During or after eruption of wisdom teeth, local gum pain may occur, especially when chewing or swallowing. This is because the growth of wisdom teeth may cause compression and irritation of surrounding tissues.

2. Swelling

of gums around wisdom teeth may occur, and in severe cases, it may affect cheeks, resulting in swelling of the face. This is caused by tissue edema due to inflammation.

3. Mouth opening restriction

Due to inflammation around wisdom teeth, masticatory muscles may be affected, resulting in difficulty in opening mouth, pain and discomfort.
