Does terminal ileitis turn into cancer?

Terminal ileitis is

an inflammatory disease that occurs at the end of the ileum, where the small intestine joins the large intestine. For most patients, the prognosis is good after standard anti-infective treatment and usually does not develop into cancer. However, for some special types, such as terminal ileitis caused by Crohn's disease, repeated and chronic inflammation of the intestinal tract can occur. Under the stimulation of this continuous inflammation, gene mutation may occur in the intestinal mucosa during continuous proliferation and repair, followed by malignant transformation, which may develop into intestinal cancer.
