High platelet count. What's going on?

Platelet count increased phenomenon, generally seen in two cases, one is the number of platelets appear primary increased, more common in polycythemia vera, primary thrombocythemia, chronic myelocytic leukemia and other bone marrow proliferative diseases. Secondly, reactive increased, more common in acute infection, hemolysis, cancer and so on.
