What's wrong with blinking eyes?

Restoring balance, one patient at a time.
Eye pain when blinking is a common symptom of ophthalmology. It can be caused by many different reasons. The first is caused by keratitis or corneal foreign bodies. The focus on the cornea and the inner surface of the eyelid rub when blinking, causing pain symptoms. The second is caused by trichiasis. When eyelashes grow in a direction that is not directed directly forward, but toward the eyeball, blinking will cause further damage to the cornea and cause pain. The third is caused by a sty, an acute bacterial infection of the meibomian glands inside the eyelids. The orbicularis oculi and levator palpebrae muscles inside the eyelids contract when blinking, thus stimulating the inflammatory focus inside the eyelids and causing pain.
