What are the steps of female catheterization disinfection?

Empathy in care, excellence in medicine.
Female urethral catheterization needs to be fully disinfected. Because female urethra is steep and easy to secondary bacterial retrograde infection, there are certain steps and sequences in disinfection. Doctors should wear gloves and apply forceps, clamps, iodophor and cotton balls at the same time for preliminary vulva disinfection. The disinfection sequence is suprapubic area, pubic mound, labia majora and labia minora. The disinfection direction is from outside to inside, from top to bottom. Disinfect labia majora first, then labia minora, the direction of disinfection is clockwise concentric circle direction, gradually from outside to inside disinfection, after each disinfection, cotton balls should be discarded, and then replace with new cotton balls for disinfection. After the first disinfection, secondary disinfection should be carried out. Generally, disinfection should be carried out three times. After disinfection, the catheter bag should be opened and the catheter should be lubricated. Paraffin cotton balls can be used to lubricate the front end of the catheter, and then enter the urethral orifice. The indwelling balloon can complete the catheterization.
