What is the difference between foam urine and proteinuria?

Healing hearts, one patient at a time.
The difference between foamy urine and proteinuria is that foamy urine contains proteinuria. If the protein content in urine is relatively high, it will generally appear as foamy urine. However, if the protein content in urine is extremely low, it will generally not appear as foamy urine, and the foam caused by proteinuria will generally not disappear. Clinically, proteinuria is more common in kidney diseases, such as nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, and diabetic nephropathy. Foamy urine is caused by proteinuria, but also can be seen in normal physiological phenomenon, generally when urinating, urine falls from a height, will show transient foamy urine, generally urine will stand for 10 to 20 minutes, foam will disappear on its own, this is a normal phenomenon, do not need special treatment.
