Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) can cause hematuria.
BPH is a non-malignant growth of prostate tissue, common in middle-aged men. It usually causes urethral stricture and reduced urine flow. Infection can cause inflammation of the urethra and bladder mucosa, leading to hematuria. Chronic obstruction of urine flow can also lead to the formation of stones in the bladder, which can irritate the bladder wall and cause hematuria. Also, urethral stricture or other urinary flow disorders may cause bladder neck pain syndrome, symptoms of which include bladder spasms and hematuria, so benign prostatic hyperplasia may cause hematuria.
