Uremia may be characterized by water and electrolyte disturbances, protein and carbohydrate metabolism disorders, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, shortness of breath, and gastrointestinal bleeding. It is usually detected by blood routine tests, urine routine tests, renal function tests, and blood biochemical tests. It can also be detected by X-ray, radionuclide nephrograms, and renal ultrasound.
