What does cerebral calcification mean?

Building a healthier future, together.
Calcification of the falx cerebri is an imaging diagnostic description, often used in CT of the skull. CT of the skull distinguishes different tissues in different densities, such as gray black brain tissue, slightly low density or isodensity, cerebrospinal fluid is black very low density, skull is white extremely high density, and falx cerebri density is below the skull and above the brain tissue. If the falx cerebri shows obvious high density shadow, it is considered that the falx cerebri shows calcification focus, because the main component of bone is calcium. When calcium is abnormally deposited in the brain, it will show punctate or flaky calcification focus. The falx cerebri is a relatively common calcification site. The choroidal vascular plexus, globus pallidus and pineal gland can also show similar calcification, which are physiological calcification and generally do not need special treatment.
