Prostatitis is a relatively common disease.

The prostate is an important part of the male reproductive system, responsible for the production of semen. Prostatitis refers to an infection or inflammation of prostate tissue and can be divided into two types: bacterial prostatitis and non-bacterial prostatitis. Bacterial prostatitis is usually caused by bacterial infections, while nonbacterial prostatitis may be associated with infections from pathogens other than bacteria or noninfectious factors. Common symptoms include frequent urination, urgency, pain in urination, perineal or sacral discomfort, and sexual problems. Studies estimate that most adult men experience prostatitis throughout their lives.
