Brainstem auditory evoked potential examination refers to the sound transmitted through headphones, stimulating the auditory nerve conduction pathway, and recording the location on the top of the head. Generally, the patient's cooperation is not required during the examination. Infants and comatose patients can be measured. The examination method mostly adopts short sound stimulation, with intensity of 50-80dB, frequency of 10-15Hz, duration of 10-20ms, and superposition of 1000-2000 times. Brainstem auditory evoked potential examination is mainly used for objective evaluation of hearing, determination of pontocerebellar tumor, examination of multiple sclerosis, judgment of brain death and necessary surgical supervision.
