Kawasaki disease
is an acute, febrile, eruptive childhood disease characterized by systemic vasculitis. Coronary aneurysms can occur in about 2 to 3 percent of Kawasaki patients if treatment is not prompt or thorough. The size and location of coronary aneurysms are closely related to prognosis. Most coronary aneurysms will gradually resolve within weeks to months, but some patients 'coronary aneurysms will persist, even leading to thrombosis, lumen stenosis or occlusion, thus causing serious complications such as myocardial infarction and arrhythmia, which are life-threatening.
