Minimally invasive surgery for spinal fractures

Empathy in care, excellence in medicine.
The minimally invasive surgical treatment of spinal fractures is mainly aimed at compression fractures of thoracic and lumbar vertebrae at present, and it is necessary to correctly grasp the indications of surgery. First, simple vertebral compression fractures of thoracic and lumbar vertebrae, or burst fractures without occupying space in spinal canal and nerve compression in spinal canal, and without nerve injury symptoms such as numbness, pain and weakness of both lower limbs, can be treated by percutaneous pedicle screw fixation. Second, pathological vertebral fractures in elderly patients with osteoporosis can be treated by percutaneous kyphoplasty if imaging examination shows intact posterior wall of vertebral body without symptoms of intraspinal occupation and nerve injury.
