Is gastric polyps an early manifestation of cancer?

Empathy in care, excellence in medicine.
Gastric polyps are usually not an early manifestation of cancer.
Gastric polyps are benign raised lesions that protrude from the surface of the gastric mucosa. They are not cancer themselves, and most gastric polyps do not become cancerous. They can be detected and cured by endoscopic resection. However, there are also a small number of gastric polyps that are at risk of cancer, such as adenomatous polyps. If they are not treated in time, symptoms such as increased abdominal pain and decreased appetite can occur with the development of the disease. The overall cancer rate is 30~40%.
Therefore, once diagnosed as gastric polyps, especially symptomatic gastric polyps, timely measures should be taken to intervene and treat to prevent cancer.
