What causes cervical shortening?

A woman's cervix is shortened. One condition is caused by congenital self-development. Another condition may be related to cervical surgery performed by women. For example, after cervical conization surgery, the cervix will be shortened. Female cervix is shortened, and it is easy to cause spontaneous abortion due to cervical insufficiency after pregnancy. Therefore, women after pregnancy due to repeated cervical insufficiency caused by spontaneous abortion, can be pregnant in 14-22 weeks of time to do cervical ligation surgery. After surgery also need to give hip elevation, bed rest, fetal drug treatment, most can get full-term baby. Under normal circumstances, the length of the female cervix of childbearing age is about 2.5-3cm, if the length of the cervix is less than 2cm called cervical too short.
