The cerebellum is a part of the brain, located in the posterior cranial fossa, behind and above the pons and medulla oblongata. The two sides of the cerebellum are enlarged, called the cerebellar hemisphere, and the middle part is narrowed and curled like a ring, called the cerebellar vermis. Under the cerebellar hemisphere, there are a pair of bulges on both sides of the cerebellar vermis, which are oval and called cerebellar tonsils. They are close to the foramen magnum. When intracranial pressure suddenly increases, they will be squeezed into the foramen magnum. This is called cerebellar tonsillar hernia, which can compress the medulla oblongata and endanger life. Cerebellum is mainly the motor regulation center. After injury, it will be manifested as unstable standing and staggering gait when walking. When examined by doctors, it can be found that muscle tension is weakened and movement is not coordinated, such as raising the leg too high when walking and stretching the fingers excessively when taking things.
