What reason is instep swollen after toe fracture cicatrization

Toe fracture needs plaster external fixation. After fracture healing, instep edema is caused by poor venous return of foot. It may also be caused by injury to surrounding veins. Patients can raise affected limbs to promote venous return of lower limbs. After 4~6 weeks of fracture, they can gradually walk with weight, which also helps to reduce swelling.
