What is Disseminated Encephalomyelitis?

Disseminated encephalomyelitis is an autoimmune disorder, an idiopathic demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. These patients often exhibit extensive demyelination of the central nervous system. If not treated promptly, patients may show serious sequelae in the future and may also show life threatening.
