Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis is an incurable disease. It is a very severe form of encephalitis with significant damage to the white matter and gray matter of the brain. It is mainly caused by defective measles virus infection and is more common in adolescents. The main clinical manifestations are memory loss, concentration loss, decreased academic performance, restlessness, and personality changes.
