What causes herpes

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a type of infection caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV), a DNA virus. HSV infection is caused by human herpes simplex virus (HSV) and is characterized by clustered small blisters. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is divided into types 1 and 2: types 1 and 1 mainly cause damage to the skin and mucous membranes outside the genitals, especially on the head and face. Types 2 and 2 mainly cause genital infections, i.e. genital herpes, a sexually transmitted disease. There is also herpes zoster, which is caused by varicella-zoster virus VZV infection and is characterized by clustered blisters along unilateral peripheral nerves, often accompanied by marked neuralgia.
