What does the tail of the pancreas mean?

Building a healthier future, together.
Pancreatic tail mass is a descriptive term for imaging examination. It refers to the presence of lesions in the tail of the pancreas during imaging examination.
Pancreatic tail mass may be related to benign lesions such as acute pancreatitis, pancreatic cyst, pancreatic insulinoma, etc., or may be caused by malignant lesions such as pancreatic cancer. Therefore, when patients are diagnosed with pancreatic tail mass, they should also be diagnosed in combination with other examinations, such as physical examination, blood biochemistry, blood routine, serum amylase test, tumor marker test, etc.
If benign lesions are diagnosed through examination, the prognosis is generally good after treatment. There is no need to worry too much. If malignant lesions are diagnosed, active treatment can only be used to delay the progression of the disease and improve the quality of life and survival rate.
