What is the meaning of esophageal wall thickening

Building bridges to better health.
Thickening of the lower esophageal wall refers to the thickening of the wall of the lower esophagus.
Under normal circumstances, the wall of the esophagus should be uniform, thin and soft. When the wall thickens, it may mean that there are some diseases or pathological changes. For example, when suffering from esophagitis, inflammation stimulates the esophageal wall, resulting in local vasodilation, exudation and tissue edema, so the above manifestations may occur. Secondly, some connective tissue diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, etc., may also affect the normal function of the esophagus and cause thickening of the wall. It is recommended that patients take further examinations in time, such as endoscopy, tissue biopsy, etc., to determine the cause of thickening and formulate corresponding treatment plans.
