How is white matter demyelination caused?

Committed to your health journey.
White matter demyelination disease may be related to central system inflammatory diseases, brain cell hypoxia, taking drugs and other factors.
1. Central system inflammatory diseases
Due to local vascular endothelial cell damage, bacteria can enter the brain through the damaged site, thus causing inflammatory reactions in the brain and spinal cord, affecting brain tissue metabolism, causing white matter lesions, and white matter demyelination symptoms.
2. Brain cell hypoxia
If carbon monoxide occurs in the center, leading to brain cell hypoxia, and brain cell hypoxia will cause white matter demyelination lesions.
3. Taking drugs
If long-term use of some drugs, such as levamisole, these drugs will also damage white matter, resulting in white matter demyelination lesions.
