How to treat retinal rupture

Dedicated to your healing journey.
The main treatment methods for retinal rupture caused by ocular trauma include laser therapy, external surgical reduction therapy and vitrectomy. The specific treatment method depends on the severity of the patient's condition and the specific situation.
1. Laser treatment
If the patient is due to retinal peripheral lattice degeneration, resulting in retinal hole or shallow retinal detachment, laser treatment is recommended. Laser treatment can be used to seal the hole by laser energy to adhere the retina and choroid around the hole.
2. External surgical reduction is
suitable for patients with retinal detachment and relatively clear refractive medium. During surgery, doctors may use photocoagulation or condensation techniques to seal the retinal hole and insert auxiliary materials such as silicone sponge to help the detached retina reattach.
3. Vitrectomy
If the retinal hole of the patient is large, accompanied by more complicated retinal detachment, unclear refractive medium, retinal hole is later, or combined with severe proliferative vitreoretinopathy (e.g. diabetes with proliferative vitreoretinopathy), vitrectomy is recommended. During surgery, the doctor will remove the cloudy vitreous or vitreoretinal traction, restore the transparent refractive medium and promote retinal reattachment.
