Adult amblyopia is generally not treatable surgically.

Amblyopia is caused by abnormal visual experience during visual development, and there is no organic lesion on eye examination. Since amblyopia occurs in childhood, amblyopia is difficult to cure once the retina matures, so even if surgery is performed in adulthood, the effect is usually not ideal.

However, for certain types of adult amblyopia, such as form deprivation amblyopia due to cataract or ptosis, vision may be improved to some extent after cataract surgery or ptosis correction surgery. However, this does not mean that all types of adult amblyopia can be treated surgically.

If adults find themselves with amblyopia problems, they should seek medical advice and choose appropriate treatment according to the doctor's advice.
