Is glaucoma serious and how to treat it?

Building a healthier future, together.
Glaucoma is not necessarily serious.
Glaucoma is caused by a gradual increase in intraocular pressure caused by an outflow of aqueous humor and damage to the optic nerve. It can be divided into primary glaucoma and secondary glaucoma. If the patient is secondary glaucoma, it may return to normal and is usually not serious. However, if the patient's clinical symptoms are serious, or primary glaucoma, it is difficult to correct the cause, generally more serious.
Patients in daily life should strictly quit smoking and alcohol and regular follow-up examination according to intraocular pressure changes to adjust the treatment, generally can improve the prognosis of the disease.
Patients can be treated by general treatment, drug therapy, surgery and other ways.
1. General treatment
patients should develop healthy eye habits. When sleeping, the head can be slightly raised to help reduce intraocular pressure and relieve pain symptoms.
2. Drug treatment
patients can use pilocarpine, brinzolamide, brimonidine and other drugs to promote aqueous humor outflow and reduce aqueous humor production.
3. The IOP
can be controlled by laser trabeculoplasty, cyclophotocoagulation and other surgical methods when conservative treatment fails.
