How is congenital nystagmus caused?

Congenital nystagmus may be caused by genetic mutations, organic eye diseases and abnormal development of the eye motor nervous system.

Genetic factors lead to mutations in FRMD7 gene and GPR143 gene in patients with genetic mutations, resulting in congenital nystagmus.

2. Organic eye diseases

Congenital cataract, ocular albinism, congenital amblyopia and other organic diseases may destroy vision, resulting in congenital nystagmus.

3. Abnormal development of the eye motor nervous system due to

optic nerve hypoplasia, optic neuropathy and other factors lead to abnormal function of the eye motor nervous system, resulting in congenital nystagmus.
