Causes of Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction

Guiding you with care, every step of the way.
Nasolacrimal duct obstruction may be related to congenital factors, trauma, sinusitis and other factors.
1. Congenital factors During
embryonic period, the distal development of the nasolacrimal duct is incomplete or there is a nasolacrimal duct malformation, which will lead to nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
2.
Trauma adjacent to the nasolacrimal duct may cause lacrimal duct damage, resulting in tears unable to absorb circulation through the nasolacrimal duct mucosa, resulting in nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
3. Sinusitis
Patients with sinusitis due to inflammatory stimulation of nasolacrimal duct congestion and edema, leading to nasolacrimal duct stenosis, at the same time due to a large number of inflammatory secretions can adhere in the nasolacrimal duct, forming nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
