Suddenly my eyes went dark. What happened?

Healing hearts, one patient at a time.
A sudden darkness of the eyes may be related to factors such as orthostatic hypotension, retinal detachment, and fundus hemorrhage.
1. Orthostatic hypotension can
occur when the body suddenly changes position, such as standing up suddenly from squatting position. Transient hypotension may occur, and there may be a sudden blackening phenomenon in front of the eyes. Generally, it can be relieved without treatment and rest.
2. Retinal detachment
is a photosensitive layer located inside the eyeball, responsible for receiving light signals and transmitting them to the brain. When retina detaches, the eyes may suddenly appear dark, which may be accompanied by flickering light, floaters, or blurred vision.
3. Fundus hemorrhage
due to eye damage, hypertension, diabetes, etc. When fundus hemorrhage occurs, it can cause retinal damage, and can also lead to sudden vision loss or blurred vision.
