The most common cause of death in systemic lupus erythematosus

Restoring balance, one patient at a time.
There is no common cause of death in SLE, but lupus nephritis and neuropsychiatric lupus may threaten patients 'lives.
1. Lupus nephritis SLE
can involve the kidneys and lead to lupus nephritis. Kidney disease can progress gradually, causing renal insufficiency and even renal failure. This is because immune complexes are deposited in the kidneys, triggering inflammatory reactions and tissue damage. Long-term sustained damage can seriously affect the normal function of the kidneys and eventually lead to death due to life-threatening conditions such as uremia.
2. Neuropsychiatric Lupus
When SLE invades the nervous system, a series of neuropsychiatric symptoms occur, such as seizures, mental disorders, cerebrovascular accidents, etc. These serious neurological complications may directly endanger the patient's life, or cause death due to unexpected circumstances during the attack. In addition, neuropsychiatric lupus is relatively difficult to treat, and poor disease control also increases the risk of death
. Lupus nephritis and neuropsychiatric lupus account for a relatively high proportion of deaths in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Early diagnosis, active treatment and close monitoring are needed to minimize the occurrence of these serious complications and improve the prognosis and quality of life of patients.
