How to treat radiation esophagitis

Radiation esophagitis can be relieved by stopping radiation therapy, drug therapy, surgery and other methods.

1. Stop radiation therapy

Radiation esophagitis is mainly related to patients receiving chest radiation therapy for a long time. If patients want to control the development of inflammation, radiation therapy needs to be suspended.

2. Drug treatment When

esophageal mucosa is damaged due to radiation esophagitis, ranitidine, cimetidine, omeprazole and other acid inhibitors can be used to maintain esophageal mucosa. Secondly, gentamicin, vitamin B12, lidocaine and other drugs can be used to relieve local inflammatory reaction and relieve pain.

3. Surgery for

esophageal stricture caused by radiation esophagitis can also be treated by esophageal dilation and esophageal stent implantation.
