Does gout hurt?

Acute attacks of gout usually occur at midnight or early morning. In a short period of time, red, swollen, hot and painful joints may be affected, accompanied by dysfunction. The pain is more severe, most commonly seen in one thumb and the first metatarsophalangeal joint. Corticosteroids, such as prednisone and methylprednisolone, may be given appropriately for contraindications to these drugs.
