What is liver fibrosis?

Liver fibrosis may be caused by damage to the liver resulting in structural destruction of liver cells. Patients may experience decreased appetite, greasy intolerance, and liver discomfort. If viral hepatitis is the cause, antiviral drugs should be prescribed. Treatment with obeticholic acid, magnesium isoglyrhizinate, or silymarin is also effective.
