Alcoholic hepatitis can self-heal after abstinence

Alcoholic hepatitis may not be self-healing after abstinence from alcohol.

Whether alcoholic hepatitis can be self-healing after rescue needs to be judged in combination with the degree of liver damage. Liver blood flow is rich and self-healing ability is strong. If the patient has severe liver damage, liver failure, hepatic encephalopathy and other complications, it will generally not self-heal. If the patient has mild liver damage, it may self-heal.

Patients should quit alcohol as soon as possible after illness to prevent alcohol from continuing to cause damage to the liver. Daily attention should be paid to rest. Diet should be based on light and digestible foods to reduce the burden on the liver.
