HPV has multiple genotypes, and different genotypes of HPV infection can cause different clinical lesions. According to biological characteristics and carcinogenic potential, HPV can be divided into high-risk and low-risk types, high-risk types are associated with cancer and precancerous lesions, low-risk and mild squamous intraepithelial lesions are associated with genitourinary warts and recurrent respiratory polyps. HPV type is related to the pathological type of cervical cancer. The infection rate of HPV 16 in cervical squamous cell carcinoma is about 56%, while that of HPV 18 in cervical adenocarcinoma is about 56%. If HPV 16 or 18 is positive, it is recommended to perform colposcopy directly. If other types are positive, it is recommended to decide whether to do colposcopy in combination with TCT examination results.
