What causes the sciatic nerve?

A trunk nerve of the lower extremities that originates primarily from the lumbar spinal cord. It controls muscle movements in the posterior extremities and most sensations below the calf. After the sciatic nerve emanates from the spinal cord, there are two sites where it may compress the sciatic nerve and cause radiating pain in the sciatic nerve region. The first is the position just beyond the vertebral body, including spinal disc or spinal stenosis and spinal tumors that compress the nerve roots. In addition, there will be a piriformis muscle in the buttocks. If it is strained, it will show fibrosis and compression of the sciatic nerve caused by piriformis syndrome. These two parts, showing compression, causing sitting neuralgia, can be improved by conservative treatment such as physiotherapy, massage, acupuncture, etc. If conservative treatment does not work, surgery is needed.
