Femur bone marrow edema can heal it

Femur is one of the most important structures of thigh. Proximal femur is connected to pelvis by femoral head and distal femur is connected to shank by knee joint. The proximal femur can cause edema of bone marrow due to external force, which is a common clinical situation. The patient may show positive four-character sign when pain occurs. MRI of proximal femur is recommended to be performed. MRI indicates local T2 high signal shadow. The patient is advised to reduce weight bearing and exercise as much as possible. At the same time, oral treatment with drugs to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, edema will gradually disappear within one to two months. After one to two months, MRI examination should be performed again to evaluate the outcome of the disease.
