Hyperhomocysteinemia
is a disease characterized by increased homocysteine in the blood. It can be classified as phlegm and blood stasis in traditional Chinese medicine. It is considered to be related to factors such as congenital deficiency and acquired deficiency of fine substances. Due to phlegm and blood stasis, it can lead to dysfunction of zang-fu organs and dysfunction of qi and blood circulation, which makes homocysteine accumulate in the body and cause hyperhomocysteinemia.
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the treatment of hyperhomocysteinemia is mainly to reduce phlegm and remove blood stasis. Commonly used drugs include hawthorn, atractylodes rhizome, Poria cocos, forsythia fruit, pinellia tuber, etc.
