Periodontitis may be treated by subgingival scaling, rinsing with hydrogen peroxide solution and iodine mixture if periodontal pockets are present, burning with iodophenol solution if periodontal pockets are shallow, incision and drainage if periodontal abscess is present, and oral antibiotics if necessary.
