What does HPV68 mean?

HPV viruses are divided into low-risk and high-risk types. Low-risk HPV infection does not cause cervical cancer, but only condyloma acuminatum in the cervix, vulva and vaginal opening. Even persistent infection leads to mild precancerous lesions of the cervix. There are types 6, 11, 42, 43 and 44. However, high-risk HPV viruses, such as types 16, 18, 31, 33, 52, 58 and 45, are the seven most dangerous types. HPV type 68 is a high-risk type of HPV virus. After infection, it can also cause precancerous lesions of the cervix. Cervical precancerous lesions are divided into mild, moderate and severe. If severe is not treated, it may lead to early cervical cancer. Therefore, after HPV type 68 infection, it is recommended to go to the hospital for colposcopy to determine whether there are precancerous lesions and precancerous lesions in the cervix.
