What causes hypertensive retinopathy?

Dedicated to your healing journey.
Hypertensive retinopathy is mainly caused by long-term hypertension leading to reduced or ruptured blood supply around the retina, causing retinal ischemia and hemorrhage.
Blood pressure is the lateral pressure on the blood vessel wall when the heart contracts and relaxes. Normal blood pressure systolic and diastolic pressures are 90-139mmHg and 60-89mmHg respectively. When the patient's blood pressure is too high for a long time, it will lead to increased resistance of blood vessels around the retina, which may cause retinal hemorrhage due to weak peripheral blood vessel wall.
Patients should pay attention to reasonable exercise in daily life, maintain a reasonable diet, and take medicine when necessary to maintain blood pressure at a normal level.
