Patients with vulvar ulcers should be kept locally clean and relieved by sitz baths with potassium permanganate solution or povidone-iodine solution. Antibiotics should be prescribed if syphilis is the cause. Antifungal medications should be prescribed if fungal ulcers are the cause. Patients should wear cotton breathable underwear.
