The most common complications of measles

Building a healthier future, together.
The most common complications of measles are: 1. infection of the upper respiratory tract. Because the throat of young children is relatively short, the small blood vessels of the mucous membrane layer are relatively rich and the connective tissue is relatively loose, if further accompanied by bacterial or viral infection, it can lead to respiratory obstruction symptoms. 2. Pneumonia is also one of the more common complications, often interstitial pneumonia. Bronchopneumonia is also more common and is caused by secondary bacterial infection, which can lead to empyema or pyothorax. Other rare complications include myocarditis, subacute sclerosing panencephalitis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, tuberculosis exacerbation, malnutrition, and vitamin A deficiency.
