What does it mean to see several small anechoic areas in the cervix

Healing hearts, one patient at a time.
A few small anechoic areas in the cervix are usually a manifestation of a cervical Knott's cyst.
There are many glands on the cervix. When chronic inflammation or other stimuli occur in the cervix, it may lead to blockage of the gland opening, retention of glandular secretions, and gradual formation of cysts, known as Knott's cysts. In most cases, these small Knott's cysts do not cause obvious discomfort, and patients may not feel any pain. They are often found accidentally during gynecological examinations.
If the Knott's cyst is small and asymptomatic, special treatment is generally not required, and regular follow-up is required to observe its changes. However, if the Knott's cyst is large or accompanied by infection, it may cause symptoms such as abdominal distension, pain, or affect the appearance and function of the cervix. Further evaluation and treatment, such as physical therapy or surgery, may be required.
