Symptoms and treatment of mumps in adults

Adult mumps is caused primarily by infection with the mumps virus. It usually causes fever, swelling of the parotid gland, pain, dizziness, loss of appetite, anorexia, nausea, difficulty chewing, and difficulty opening the mouth. The disease is self-limiting and can usually be treated with antiviral and antipyretic drugs as prescribed.
