Can lung cancer be diagnosed by petct?

PET-CT is highly suggestive of lung cancer, but it does not confirm lung cancer. On PET-CT, if lung cancer, the metabolism of lung mass will be significantly increased. Especially some mediastinal lymph nodes, some on CT can not distinguish whether lung cancer shows lymph node metastasis or lymph node enlargement caused by benign inflammation. PET-CT can better identify whether these mediastinal lymph nodes are metastatic or benign. PET-CT can also better detect whether there are metastases in other parts of the body. Therefore, PET-CT is mainly used for clinical staging before treatment, as well as monitoring whether lung cancer has recurrence and metastasis after treatment.
