How is ampullary cancer treated?

Healing with compassion, caring with dedication.
Ampullary cancer can also be cured through surgery, so how to treat ampullary cancer surgery? The following is explained by Gao, director of Peking University People's Hospital. At this stage, the first choice for ampullary cancer treatment is to do a radical surgical resection. The specific surgical method is to do a pancreatic and duodenal resection, and at the same time to carry out regional lymph node dissection. The scope of resection is mainly the distal stomach, duodenum, upper jejunum, nearby lymph nodes, as well as adjacent bile duct, gallbladder and pancreatic head uncinate process, so it is a more classic surgical resection scope. After the resection, we also need to reconstruct the digestive tract. Generally, we choose to lift up the distal jejunum and make an anastomosis with the pancreas, then connect the bile duct and intestinal tract, and finally make an anastomosis with the stomach.
