Tumor necrosis factor (TNF), produced primarily by activated monocytes or macrophages, kills and inhibits tumor cells. TNF may cause bleeding and necrosis of tumor cells. Generally speaking, it is produced by cells in the body and can cause some inflammatory response. It is used to treat tumors. Generally, TNF should be closely monitored for side effects during use. Sometimes side effects are severe, most common are fever reactions, and local allergies. If TNF is used to treat tumors, it is also used together with other anti-tumor methods.
