What is ovulation period

Building a healthier future, together.
Ovulation is the period when follicles mature and release eggs.
During each menstrual cycle, the hypothalamus releases gonadotropin-releasing hormone, which causes the pituitary gland to secrete follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. Follicle stimulating hormone acts on the ovary to promote follicle development. As the follicles mature, estrogen levels gradually increase. When estrogen reaches a certain peak, it triggers a sharp rise in luteinizing hormone, triggering ovulation. Generally, for women with regular menstrual cycles, ovulation is usually about 14 days before the next menstrual cycle. However, this is only a rough estimate, individual differences are large, and may be affected by a variety of factors, such as mood, environment, disease and so on.
