Enchondroma refers to bone tumor caused by embryonic ectopic tissue. It is a benign tumor. It can be seen in pathological specimens that it is composed of many hyaline cartilage lobules. It can form relatively solid hard tissue. It can also form relatively flexible tissue due to more mucus tissue. For single enchondroma, it will not affect growth and development. However, if it is multiple, it can cause limb shortening. Those that occur in the central bone are called central type; those that grow on the edge of the cortical bone are called marginal endchondromas, most of which require surgery.
